I was trying out a Sigma 120-300mm f 2.8 to see how it works on widefield astro shots. This is at 120mm f4 stack of 11x1.6 sec. I didn't have the energy to set up the scope.

Certainly shows potential.
Sigma are generally good lenses

This is a first generation lens, no tracking, but not yet convinced it's good for this application. I might need to experiment more.

The stars came out very well even at the corners of the field. You got the flame nebula and some blue nebula around the brighter star below it. Couldn't quite make out the horsehead nebula which would be to the right and just below the star with a bit of blue nebula around it.

The Horseheads would be beyond my expectations with this lens. Maybe with more subs and a filter. I think it also has more CA than I like, but thats why they make quality telescopes and lenses. Thanks for your comment. Also my processing skills are in need of improvement.
