Rodeo Event ... Cutting
The cowboy must separate 3 calves (one at a time) from the herd in 2:30 min.
Horse and rider are a team - the horses are extremely well trained and know
exactly what's expected of them.
Very good shots. You caught the essence of cutting. I worked for the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture's Veterinary Services for almost 9 years and got to attend the Quarter Horse shows at the Oklahoma State Fair Grounds several times. Most interesting event of the whole show. On a well trained cutter, the cowboy is just along for the ride.
Yep they're called cutting horses and not just any old horse is smart enough or nimble enough to be successful at it.

Nice shots!
Must be one heck of a challenge to stay seated on that horse. It looks like the horse is enjoying it.
Very nice set. Cutting horses are amazing, almost as amazing is the cowboy's ability to stay in the saddle.

Nice stuff here. I have always wanted to try to photograph rodeo action and you have done well here. Wow, the cowboy seems like a huge guy atop that horse. I feel for the horse.
That is my favorite event to photograph. They used to have cuttings at a stock yards near me and I would go. It was a REALLY big deal - lasted an entire week. You've done this quite well. The hardest thing is to hang on and stay in the middle of the horse! Balance is everything in this event.
AzPicLady mentioned that balance is everything in cutting,
I say in these phots balance is everything and you got it nailed,
great set
