Cleaning out the hard drive came across this cute fella.

Tilde531 (Theresa) and I spent a great time out at Kennedy Space Center Wildlife Reserve recently including taking photographs close to the Haulover Canal. She was searching out a spot to take a pic of a small overgrown pond and almost trod on a Gator. She ran one way and the gator the other. First time she had seen one haha.
Great place to spend a day! Unfortunatly the Haulover was pretty muddy and the Manatees not to visable.

Sorry about the Manatees....I've been to Haulover and had the same experience. Funny thing...my cousin just moved here and went to Haulover about a month ago for the first time. They not only got to see many of them but also got to touch them....rub their heads and bellies...and got great photos. There were Manatee trackers there, with clip boards, etc. counting them and told them it was okay to touch them. They have transmitters on some but can identify individuals by counting the prop scars on their backs.
I think that third shot is the keeper. What exactly is he? He sure is colorful.

Thanks for looking, he is just a common garden lizard showing off haha
I had assumed it was a membrane that blood passed through and although it is exposed for maybe an eighth of a second my thought was that it was a form of cooling. One of the more knowledgable folks said it was a warning to preditors that he would not taste good or that it was a form of display to a possible mate. I know not why but will tell you it takes a lot of patience to stand there, on haunches in this case waiting for him to perform and then anticipate exactly when he is gooing to show his "Sail"
I liked them, but I am strange anyway Haha

Thanks everyone for looking, I would love to have the equipment to make these close ups into really sharp photographs. One day maybe.
I always promised myself another visit to the Preservation Hall Jazz club before I die. So on Wednesday I hope to be staying overnight in Jackson, miss. then for a performance in New Orleans on Thursday evening. I shall be a very happy camper then. Watch out for a red Chevy truck with Florida plates.
Ian
Boloxi is in Mississippi, Ian :-) Wave to us as you go through Mobile, Alabama. Have a great trip!

Very sad indeed about your friend. Do visit the battleship sometime though. It's a very interesting place to see. I'll be looking for that red truck :-)
