Took the snowshoes out for a little walk today as the snow finally let up and some blue skies were predicted!

Nice shots! Just the thought of Snowshoes makes my Glutes throb - and I did it in days when I was very fit. As to Wolves, a small pack of the imported Canadian Wolves can destroy a viable cattle ranch in these days.

Glutes, calves ....pretty much everything will throb after a long hike in those things...

Do I see Ravens at the bottom of the hill on the left? Maybe scavenging a kill while the wolf sleeps off a big meal?

Yes ....we didn't see any horns on the carcass, so it's either a mule deer doe or a cow elk...couldn't tell.

The hill the wolf is on is the winter range for elk and deer. Before the reintroduction of the wolves, this time of year you would see a few thousand elk, deer and a few hundred moose. Now we sometimes see a few groups of 25 to 30 elk, maybe a few deer and no moose at all anymore ....it only took about 10 years for the decline to hit this record low numbers....it's just so very sad to see.
