Is there a way to tell how big a file is when you have multiple pictures selected. I burn pictures to a cd which works ok. A cd will hold 700Mb pf data and would like to be able to tell the file size within Nikon View. I can do it in file manager but it takes a few extra steps. I know it's just holding something done and clicking something else. The biggest problem I have with file manager is if I am careful I end up with copies of copies if I don't click things right.

If you put the arrow pointer on the name of the file in the lower left corner of the image you select it will show you the size along with three or four other bits of info.
I use Nikon View Nx-i all the time. It will tell you the file size of any image it can read: jpeg, tiff or NEF.
I make sure that Information icon (I) is turned "On" in the tool bar at the top of the program. Once it is on as you view any image, key facts about that image are displayed in a yellow box at the top left of the image. You turn n it on and off by clicking on the I Icon.
The manual ought to tell you how to do this too.
I use Nikon View all the time to show images in presentations and use the I icon to show shooting data for an image when needed.
Thanks for your reply, but I need to determine the size of a file with 35-40 pictures selected.

So you can't right-click on the "folder" and tell how many MBs are in it?
