Thank you Mac;
One thing about here in Texas is that it does not last long. This is not unusual but for sure not the normal but we will get through it.
Thank you for your thoughts.
Sincerely;
Bruce.

Thanks Mac things are improving today. We will remember this week when it's 105 degrees this summer.
We appreciate the concern. We were lucky: never lost electricity, had outside pipe burst but a plumber friend had it fixed within a couple of hours. Sadly, had friends who were not so lucky. Some without power for up to 3 days & road were not passable enough for them to get to our place. They are finally with power now.

Power was out for 48 hours at my house in Austin but back on now. Water pressure is very very low. Water pressure probably wont be back to normal for a few more days. Using snow melt for flushing TMI.
I feel for the people who have wells and the power is out so the pumps don't work and those who also have horses and can't get water to them. One person said two of their baby calves had their ears to freeze off.

Interesting. I'm in San Antonio Texas. Haskins Pump Service handles all water pumped out of the Edwards Aquifer. That water source is massive, it is 67.2F all the time. Back when I was living in the country I was on a deep water well and I can tell you only an idiot looses water and has frozen pipes in the winter with a water well. You shut off the water, open a valve and drain the water at the far point. Then recharge the water supply when things begin warming (keep in mind one knows that the water coming up is 67.2F year round to the storage tank.
As tom electric and water, San Antonio has two independent companies call SAWS (water) and CPS (electric). These companies are not like normal companies as they are owned and run by the city of San Antonio. Both are here for the people and are responsive to the people.
In addition, natural gas is important as a separate utility. The electric goes down but one still has gas to heat the building, which in the winter is important for my studio building. My building was built some 15 years after the century turned. CPS completed the first coal fired electric plant (no longer in service), which was completed in 1901. They started construction in 1895, the building is directly across the street, Mission Road, and the first Mission is just up the street. And yes, Teddy Roosevelt formed the Rough Riders on the land where that coal fired plant was/is.
Austin Texas and Dallas Fort Worth, and Houston are neat cities, but San Antonio is one of the grand jewels of all Texas Cities.
