It was a sad recent day when it became necessary to put down Buddy. He was the family 18-year old (nearly 19) tomcat and had appeared in several postings here. The photo is Buddy resting comfortably on his favorite red blanket. It was taken just prior to taking him to the vet. It was truly a sad, sad day for the family.

Jack, Yes it is sad after 18 years with the mail. My thoughts go out to you and yours of Buddy. Think of the happy times with him. Stan
In my life I've had two really special cats. I fell your loss. Amazing that your wonderful friend lived to be the grand old age of 18. I know that he'll be missed.
It's not easy.
They have embedded themselves in your heart.
A piece of which is now missing.
We had two that adopted us.

Been there. 2 cats went to the vet. 1 cat went to the road. 1 cat went to a place where a fisher was. 1 cat is now 16.
So sorry to hear about the loss of Buddy! I know how hard it is to lose one of your furbabies because they are a part of your family. Our dog, Marisol passed away not long ago, and we still miss her so much.
We know there will eventually be this pain but we love them anyway.

bury him in your heart...he will be there forever....................been there done that.
Sorry your long term buddy passed away. It always hurts to lose a pet. We say we won't go through it again but always get another pet - better cuddles than a stuffed toy. And they clean up the food you drop.
We had five cats and are down to one. Family members got all of them as kittens.
We have two dogs, one 14 my wife's Shin Zhu (he isn't feeling good today-his tummy bothers him sometimes) and one 11 (Irish Shorty Jack Russell mix, she is my little buddy, we got her at just over two months and 2+ lbs, now at 20 lbs the doc says she should lose 2 pounds) she is turning grey and has a tiny limp from jumping off an 8 foot ledge as a puppy, and has a heart murmur - but she still chases squirrels in the yard. She can't always jump up onto the lounge chair to sleep by me as I watch the news, I have to pick her up for our "Snooze and Newz" sessions - if the news is boring it becomes Snooze and Snooze.
