Thanks for viewing and the nice complement. There's a lots of views like this almost everywhere you turn, but it does gets awfully hot out there. I also found out that there is still a lot of private property in the park. The Interior Department hasn't acquired rights to all the property within the parks boundaries yet.

Thanks for showing these photos! My single mindedness for seeing the geology in the park, would have put this location near the bottom of my list of things to see. I always felt like I was racing the clock there. So many places to investigate. Getting up into the park before sunrise. getting back to my cheap motel to wait out the intense heat in the afternoon and back up to get situated for the sunset. All very exhilarating. I swung over to Keys View quite a number of times and I drove right by, barely registering this place was there. Since my last visit, it has been on my mind to go back with more time. And ideally not in august. I like the treatment you used in these. Your usual good eye for composing your shots. The last one I like particularly. Good sense of being there amongst the Joshua trees. !!

Thanks for viewing and commenting, Mark.

I understand your single mindedness. Because of the pandemic our wings have been clipped. We love to explore the wilderness, but right now we're limited to where we can drive to, play, then drive back in a day without hotel stays. Joshua Tree fits within our travel radius so we've been there quit a few times. There is a lot of history out there but you have to get past the amazing rock formations to find it. For instance, we've all driven past Intersection Rock. In the surrounding rocks, there's a room created in the rocks with a metal door. Stories has it, that one of the families kept their mentally ill (crazy) son locked up in it. The area is rich in mining, ranching and robbing. But you have to get off the road to find it. If you ever come again, the best times to visit is in the winter or early spring, otherwise you catch the blistering heat. If you visit in the spring, you might even catch the desert flower blooms on the south side of the park.

If you're looking for something better than a cheap motel, like those you find in the town of Joshua Tree, I would recommend Twenty-Nine Palms. They have much nicer hotels and you're close to the NE entrance to the park.
