OMG, I have been in Yellowstone Nat. Park and we have gotten to see the Wapiti wolf pack yesterday and today! Yesterday was just a few on a kill. Today 16 we could count and the pack is said to have 17. They were far away and it was -5. (my shutter finger froze and is developing a blister, but anything for the photo) This is with the Canon R5, 800mm & 1.4 extender about 500 yards away! Rather impressed with the performance of this lens. Of course there will be lots more, just don't have time to look at them before we go out in the morning to see if they made a kill and more photos!!!
Ok the second photo was yesterday 150 yards and the 100-500 & 1.4 extender.
Beth, those photos are fantastic. Tack sharp on DDL, eyes as clear as marbles. Very well done. I was there in the winter of 2005 and saw wolves but not close enough to photograph, but still an awesome, memorable trip. Good shooting on the remainder of your trip.
Wow, outstanding results, Beth! Keep those wonderful shots coming.
Outstanding. You took advantage of a great opportunity.

Wow! In the second one, the wolf on the left is sizing you up for dessert...
Great pictures of wolves in the wild.
Amazing photos. The close-ups when downloaded are wonderful. First is my favorite.
Cool shots, those are ferocious looking wolves.
Beautiful photos of wolves on an elk kill. I love the magpie getting his share.
