My brother in law asked me to do something creative with an old picture of him playing drums in a Country and Western trio shot back in the late 60s or early 70s. He e-mailed the photo to me from his iPhone. It was rather difficult to work with because of the size and image quality. Included here is the original enlarged and enhanced the best I could for quality. Also included are a couple of slightly colorized versions with a sketch effect applied through Topaz Studio 2 and merged through HDR processing in PaintShop Pro. Feel free to explore your own creative versions if you are so inclined to share and provide feedback.

I like the idea of both your edits; however, the "missing" pants are a little distracting I wonder if you could change their color before applying the effects so that they show up in the result? I'll explore later today or tomorrow.

Linda, the missing pants comment is pretty funny. I sent these examples to my brother in law and he was honest and said he didn't really care for them. He wants it to look more like a painting and he wants his face better defined. So, I guess I need to start anew. I don't mind his feedback. He's a great guy.
