Reddish Egret

The first two captures are of one of the Reddish Egrets that we viewed last week and they emphasize the bright breeding colors on the beak and mane. The next five capture are of an older one that had a bad leg injury but was still a very agile angler. These egrets are a blast to watch and attempt to capture! They are an endangered species with only 350 nesting pair here in Florida. I named the injured one "White Feather" after an old Marine buddy of mine from Viet Nam, Carlos Hathcock, a famous sniper who the North Vietnamese nicknamed "White Feather" because of the feather he wore on his "boonie hat"

Black Point Drive has 3 or 4 of the reds that are active close to the road. Spoonies are still there also...Thanks, Larry!
