As promised, I worked this up for Reitred_CPO and UT_Mike as my obligatory "bird" shot.
In reality, these heron do not fear humans and are quite comfortable malingering around. For visitors to our area, it's a treat to get close to these birds and snap off some memorable photographs. For fishermen and now me (I do fish quite often), these birds get a bit pesky as they stalk us and try to steal our hard earned catch, or in this case, a composition with a time limit due to the diminishing light.
All in all, the bird stayed relatively still for a 30 second exposure, and since it wasn't the focal point of the composition, I decided to share here as a sort of humorous post.
Beautiful capture and rendering, even with the Heron!
Great bird shot for a rock shooter, Tony (LOL)
Thanks Joe. There is some inside humor to it for a couple of us um...."Rock Shooters"

HAHAHAHA, I knew you would get a kick out of it Mike. AND.....you coined a new term that I actually really like...."Rock Shooter"!!!
Oh come on Tony. Mike is the "birder" here. And you are the Rock (sand) shooter. I'm shooting birds because I'm in Florida and there are birds here. In six or eight weeks I'll be somewhere else and shooting something else. But probably NOT sand or birds! :-}. You have to admit the rocks look better because of the Heron. NOT despite the Heron!

Haha, OK, I will concede on the point that the heron added personality to the composition
Is there any chance you will be around these parts?

We will be headed North but don't know if Pensacola will be a stop or not. Is the RV park there accepting travelers? We'll be going to Boston, Mass, Judy is from there. I will try to talk her into stopping for a couple days in your area.

Yeah, all the RV parks in the area are open. I don't know if NAS has availability, but Blue Angel Park does for sure, I see RVs coming and going all the time there.
