of this bird. I think this is a female red-winged blackbird but I'm reasonably sure they migrate. Any help from my fellow hoggers would be appreciated. I did the usual research on line but didn't come with a definitive answer. This image was just collected yesterday on the 26th here on the Cape.

Thanks much to all that responded to this post and for links provided for me to check out. I think Cape Cod is on the area border of several bird species choosing whether or not to migrate as I've discovered with red-tailed hawks. Erik

Erik, I am pretty sure it is a female Re-Winged blackbird. Been awhile since I have seen them on a regular basis but I looked in my reference book for me to get to 95% sure. Great photo.

I don't know, sorry. But it's a great shot, and I can see how these guys would be well camouflaged in this dried brush. With the colors and shadows, there is some excellent natural blending taking place

The consensus of replies seems to be just that, female red-winged back bird. I was confused by why it hadn't migrated. Thanks Greg and for looking in and commenting. vz
