I used to live down there many years ago ... this takes me back to those days in a pirogue just relaxing.
Your balance must be better than mine, Paladin48, those flat-bottomed things are perfect for shallow water but stability isn't their best feature... but, maybe I should give 'em another try--- after the water warms up. THANKS! Paladin48!

This is a great image. This shows that what may appear commonplace and mundane before our eyes can be organized by the camera into a thing of beauty. Thanks for sharing.
Kind words, RodeoMan, THANKS!! but believe, me, there's a dozen "duds" on my memory card that remained commonplace and quite mundane... but, sometimes ya lucky!!

Thanks, Bob! given your practiced and artistic eye, that's high praise (at least that's the way I take it!) !!

Thanks for a very nice photo...which is exactly how I'd most like to see a place like that.
Thank YOU! Appy, so glad you stopped by!

Great composition!
It is a difficult composition- for me- given the short line of piers that don't really engage with any other part of the image... they just sorta 'hand wave' the eye into the bushes to then stumble out deep into the marsh. Nonetheless, THANKS!! Bubalola!!

Very nice. The symmetry of what look like old posts is intriguing. Any story there?
I have no history of this area rmm0605, but presume the posts are what's left of an old dock or pier- perhaps even a boat berth. Given this is the marshy banks of Lake Pontchartrain- a lake of about 630 square miles- there are dozens and dozens of such places- perhaps hundreds- circling the lake, but land access to these places comes and goes; that is, roads turn to muck- I mean, roads ARE muck, and so "board roads" are necessary. A board road is just that, a road consisting of boards... typically 2X12X10' pine boards nailed across three or four rails of the same 2X12X10' pine boards and laid directly on the muck.... Once what ever chore is complete that necessitated access, the wood road is taken up and used elsewhere. Otherwise, untreated wood quickly rots away... in either case, roads become once again a muddy trail and the "dock" is abandoned. THANKS for being curious!!
