NZ-made toilet named America's best public loo

A New Zealand-made self-cleaning toilet has been named America’s best public loo.
The Exeloo unit, designed and manufactured in West Auckland, was named the Americas top toilet at the inaugural Best Restroom in America awards in November.
The “touchless” toilet was the subject of a viral post on popular social media platform TikTok when it first opened at Bancroft Park in Colorado.
As well as racking up millions of views, the toilet also attracted attention from media and locals alike, leaving some “shocked” by its unusual facilities.
“It was very different. It felt like I was in the future,” Bancroft Park woman Kamlynn Potee told US television channel Fox 21.
The unit, which launches into a self-cleaning process after every 30 uses, has lights indicating availability and push button entry.

A “touchless” toilet made in West Auckland has been named America's best public restroom.
Soap, water, toilet paper and the hand dryer are all activated with a wave.
The toilet also sends an automatic alert via an app to maintenance crews when supplies start running low.
But users can’t linger too long over the bells and whistles. The toilet also has a 10-minute time limit which visitors ignore at their peril – after a final countdown, the doors open automatically.
Exeloo managing director, Craig van Asch, said the US publicity has fast-tracked orders from new projects with LA Parks, which oversees more than 16,000 acres across the district of Los Angeles.
The area is made up of 86 city councils, roughly the same number in the whole of New Zealand.

I cant think of an appropriate comment to end this post, but thought it was worth a go. This is copied and pasted from a local paper.

A colleague of mine had a couple of hours of stopover in Paris and decided to venture into the city. Taken short, he found a pay-to-go public ‘super loo’ but had no Euro coins. As somebody was leaving, he jumped in before the door closed unaware of the self cleaning cycle. He said it was like standing in a car washing machine. He had to continue his trip to India soaked to the skin and reeking of disinfectant.

Turns out we have a block of 3 of these in our city centre here in Tauranga so went yesterday for a look. Very clean and tidy. Free to use. There was a City Council worker servicing them while I was there and I said I thought they serviced themselves. Turned out he was only filling up all the containers with paper, washing liquid etc.
Always a bit shy about using public toilets but these were very hygienic. Even a steel bottle of Covid19 hand sanitizer at the door as you leave. As well as a soap dispenser for when you wash your hands with a Covid label on it.

Many people here in America have come across the prototypical out of the way gas station operated by a swarthy grease encrusted owner that maybe cleans the loo once a year. I was once told by a friend as we were on a trip that he didn't wash his hands in one of those toilets because he didn't want to get his hands dirty! Can you imagine going into one of those places to find facilities like those described by the OP! Wow, in some backwater towns it might become a local tourist attraction!

10 minutes may be way too short for many older users, lol.
