WOW!!!!!! Perseverance pays off. Wonderful.

I think that leaving the camera in one spot without checking it very often is a good strategy. That's hard for me since I always want to move my cameras to a "better" spot. Guess I just need more cameras!

Very interesting series!! Beautiful cat!

Yes, very healthy. There is a lot for him to eat out there, though I hope he stays away from the cattle. I did get videos of cows.

SWFeral, Few people know the details and settings required to place a trail camera and get impressiver results. Congratualtions on your project! Browning should use your results for advertisement. Covid 19 has wrecks thousands of families' lives and plans. Hope 2021 is better.

Browning should use my results AND send me a new camera! Thanks for the compliments but I must give credit to the mountain lion, who placed himself exactly where he was supposed to be. Yes, Covid is a nightmare. Thank goodness I can get out to the forest regularly.

Trail cams are Kewl! I have one and other security cams. Caught a Black Bear-large-on one of my security cams. That cam is about 40 feet from the front door! Thanx for sharing.

You're welcome. Was your bear just passing through or was it up to mischief? I can't tell you how many times bears have repositioned my trail cams!

Awesome⭐ Lot of action in the middle of the night😲 Congratulations on your Mountain Lion

Actually it was right around 6 PM, but the foxes, coyotes, and skunks are certainly out in the middle of the night. That's why it was worth it to spend the extra on a dual-lens camera--the night videos are so much better.

Wow! I can fully appreciate the thrill you must have felt - similar to what you would feel if you encountered it in the wild but a whole lot safer. I should have a camera in my back yard. No mountain lions but I suspect there is a lot of activity at night!

I think everyone should have a camera in their yard. The one time I encountered a cougar in the wild, it fled so fast that it took a moment to register in my mind what it was. Same with any bear I've seen. Therefore I'd much rather watch animals unobtrusively through my cameras, because then I can really observe their behavior without terrifying them.

Hey Southwest, those are some great captures. Just think, some of the times that you were out there puttering around with your camera, that guy could have had his eye on you. I think it is interesting how the same area looks so much different in the daytime and night views. The day time looks close and immediate, while, to me at least, in the night images, the mountain lion looks like he is treading across a much much larger landscape. We all are lucky that you are lucky to live where you do and that you share your surroundings with all of us. I hope you are on an upswing after all the family and business matters.

I was scrolling through your cat shots while my two kittehs were sprawled in front of my monitor. Big mistake. Even when they're half asleep, if something moves, it interests them and they have to investigate the thing that's moving. So suffice it to say that me scrolling through your cat shots interested them, and they wanted to investigate.

I'm considering putting iron bars up in front of my monitor. Or at least having a set of iron bars handy for when I'm on my computer and the kittehs are in the same room. Might limit my field of vision a little, but at least the kittehs won't see me scrolling, or doing anything that results of any sort of movement on the monitor, and if they do the bars'll limit their access and their interest at least a little.

Which is the long way of me saying that when my kittehs saw me scrolling through your cat-cam pix, after I hollared at them 'CUT IT THE HELL OUT YOU TWO!!!' and (attempted to) bat them away, they both yowled up at me from a less interested distance from my monitor as if to say, 'yeah, so what? we're REAL cats, and that one you're scrolling through there is nothin' more than a PU$$Y!'

Conversely, from my end of the melee, I think its worth saying, 'hey! nice cat-cam shots there, Feral.'

I know the joys of cat help while using the computer. I'd like to reassure you that things will get better but they won't your kittens will only get larger. My 11-year-old blob of a boy cat still chases the cursor as well as steps on various F keys to make changes I don't know how to undo. He even took a screen shot for me once. I'm afraid you'll have to develop coping skills.

Glad you liked my cat cam shots. Hopefully there will be more.

Thanks, RodeoMan. I'm sure all the animals out there know of my comings and goings. The canyon where I have my camera is actually a very short scramble from the Continental Divide Trail; from the trail you can look down into the canyon, but I've never seen other human footprints down there. I've watched and heard other hikers go past above me, and they're unaware of me--just how I like it. But the animals know I'm there.

The day and night images do look very different. It's challenging to provide snapshots from the daytime and nighttime videos because the two lenses capture slightly different views, with the night lens zoomed in slightly I believe. I had to study the lion shots and then crop the photos of the buck and coyote to get the same view.

I'll be in more of an upswing when I don't have to work every day but Sunday to catch up with our schedule! We were doing really well but then my neck of the woods got hit with an unusually heavy snowstorm--we got ten inches--and everyone freaked out and cancelled their appointments. Actually I don't blame them since we have nothing but hills here and the streets really were slick. With an overnight low of 13 degrees I imagine we'll have more cancellations tomorrow...but we muddle along.

I know the feeling. I remember seeing an owl for the first time and getting dozens of shots. You couldn't have wiped the grin off my face with a chisel.
I also own a Browning trail cam that I bought to see what all was out there. I set it up sometimes about a hundred feet from my back yard. I'm hoping to get a bear some day. I feed some deer, raccoons, skunks, possums, and foxes in the area, but so far, no bears have shown up. I, like you, have made hundreds of 30 second videos of leaves and large moths and etc. Mine takes awful daytime videos but the night time ones aren't too bad. Congratulations on your mountain lion. My condolences on the loss of your mom.
