Crater Lake...Oregon. Morning after the first major snowfall of the season, October 2014. Phantom Ship Rock is visible in the corner of the bay...far right.

Nice goin', gun. One place I haven't yet visited. I'm sure my wife wouldn't go for a Winter visit so I really like seeing your image.
Nice pic you can use it as a post card or Xmas card
Crater Lake; same day, another point of view. Snow was absolutely pristine that morning, and undisturbed. Shadows on the snow were a blue/grey color for some reason. The drive to the rim from the entrance to the park you pass through a posted "Avalanche Zone". There are any number of trees that lean like the one in this image; there is an area along the rim drive where you can see how the winds have twisted and contorted the trees. The rim of the caldera is right around 7000 feet above sea level. The Saturday before this snow fell I was on the rim watching a storm making its way across southern Oregon from the Pacific Ocean. The storm packed gale force winds. When the storm arrived at the park it nearly blew two people next to me off the rim, the wind was gusting that badly. The gale brought some snow but it all melted soon after. Standing on the caldera rim when that gale hit was awesome!!!
