Hello,

This summer my wife and I are taking a safari in Tanzania. This country does not allow any plastic bags. I usually keep each lens in a zip lock bag on trips to protect from dust, moisture, etc. My largest lens is Nikon 70-200 and would like some kind of a water resistant, at least, bag with either a roll down top with buckle like a small dry bag or even a draw string closure. Water proof would be the best because we will also be in Antarctica this fall. A 6" x 14" would be the largest needed.

Something light weight is what I am looking for because the lenses would still go into my camera pack. I have been searching but haven't found a good fit yet.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Google "Changing Bags" Some are waterproof. I use them for dust control.

Sea to Summit - look on Amazon - I have used them for years for my lenses when at the beach. Many sizes and alternates. Enjoy your trip!

Use what is called a "dry bag" found at most outdoor stores, or, you could put dry bags in the anazon search box. I got some long narrow ones at REI.com and each one shows the measurements.

Contact your safari company see if they might not have something there you could use

Chandlers or sailing / kayak shop. Drybags as mentioned before. Many different sizes in a proofed synthetic finish, from almost swing bin sized down to wallet size. And in all sorts of grades depending on store. They survive a couple of years rolling about in my kayak, longer if they're stuffed and not moving around.

I went to an R.E.I. when I was in the U.S. once and believe it would be a good starting point and possibly your only stop. Just replacing ziplock bags won't require to higher specification.

Someone just posted a waterproof case like a Pelikin sold by Harbor Freight for $60. It had the pluck out foam and a rubber gasket to seal it when closed. Actually, I think it was posted on the Fuji forum.

I do a lot on the water. Sea-to-summit or similar would be a good choice. Go to REI.com and poke around.

Have Fun

Check out Harbor Frieght. I purchased a Pelican style case there for way less than a Pelican, and that included the foam padding. I use mine to store my big lens. They come in all sizes and some even have rollers.
