13th of Jan. was when I started the test runs on framing this target with a luminance run , Feb. 12,13, 15 was my rgb runs after battling clouds , rain and wind . It's not my best test but, under the circumstances that I'm dealing with . I hope to make a finish run with correct framing and back off a tad on the stretching and I don't really dig the color but, that's what brought out the faint detail with the amount of fames . 1min. exposure 15/300 Ha not even added 30s 100 lum 65 rgb. your thoughts?
SB's Orion nebula /w the funky colors
Something to consider, I’ve shot this in Ha and you get tons of detail. If I were taking Ha, I would skip the Lums.
It’s good to see you are seeing “some” sky.

Interesting image, the detail looks good, the color seems a bit off. What program did you use to combine the color channels? With my DSLR I don't get much green, more blues and reds. It might be good to back the saturation off a bit.
Ballard , you're correct . That's why I test to see what I can do with yalls suggestions, it's a new dso camera and I gotta crawl before I swim the cosmic ocean. I purposely maxed out the yellow and green to see the position so I could judge the orientation .
Brian , skip the lums eh ? Ok , I'll give it a go and see how it does .

You captured lots of the faint nebulosity and the Trapezium stands out, now just the color balance should get you what you want.

Beautiful! Good work there Ronnie.
Glad you have found some open sky finally.
Looks like a lot of good detail.
What camera did you get?
Thanks Sonny , I joined the asi1600MM 16.4 mp cooled club , It was the one I really wanted but, Alanna was hard set on the asi174mm 2.3 mp cooled until I got better. Now since she's seen all the photons I was gathering she is overjoyed that I have it in my arsenal . I'm getting rain and fog now , just got my felt tape for my rings, and still have a baffle that slides inside the ota , so this is time to do a lil' bit of TLC care .
fjdarling, Thanks . Better than my prior attempts.
Thanks Brian , I've got it going right out of the box and was like a little kid getting an awesome toy.

That's the one I've been drooling over.
For a while I was looking at bigger telescopes. But I'm not sure the return on investment would be there, not like it would be with a newer camera.
And then, I go take a long exposure color image, and I go back to, "If it works, DON'T "fix" it."
I am basically lazy, and don't want to work at post processing.
It's not for everyone , it's challenging and keeps you thinking . I'm always trying to pull more photons out of what I gathered by using tools in Aip4win and CCDstacks 2. I purchased a book on astronomical processing that gave me a better and wider understanding of what makes an image . {If it isn't broke don't fix it} I don't see why you were even looking at bigger scopes your ed 80mm has a wide field which makes it easier to frame targets and ideal for galaxies and nebulae. The only reason I donated the 80mm f11 is I wanted to grow in the hobby ,the joy ,satisfaction and reward are all part .
