Have been playing around with water drops again (one of my winter activities). Have been mixing patterned backgrounds with colored gels on the flashes. Here are a few of my results.

This is a lovely series. Did you use a Pluto Trigger?

Thanks to all for the very kind comments. Regarding the questions about how I do these shots. I have developed speed over many years and can trigger a shutter or flash at the exact instant I need to. OK, it is a bunch of malarkey. What I use is an instrument made by a company named Cognisis. They make several different fantastic products but the one I use is called Stop Shot. You can find more about it here https://cognisys-inc.com/stopshot-wdk.html. Once I get the initial setup programmed for two drop collisions I then try to get a bit creative with lighting and backdrops to add interest to the images. It takes many tries to create a single success, but the fun is in the process. The controller for this set has 3 trigger inputs. One input comes from the controller itself when you press a button to initiate the sequence. This will cause the solenoid controlled valve to release the programmed amount of drops (I use two but you can have 1 to 3). These drops pass through an infrared sensor creating the second trigger point. This in turn will start the flash trigger sequence. You have to control the camera manually, but since the lighting for the shot is the flash, you can use relatively long shutter speeds. Presently I am using .5 sec in a semi-darkened room. Hope this helps. Of course this is only one of many different ways to create this type of image. It is just the one I chose.
