The little joystick on the back of the D-500 which moves around the focus points is not working. Is there a lock that I may have set accidently? Thanks Ron

Try going to Menu --> Custom settings --> f Controls --> f1 Custom control assignment, and then see what your Sub-selector is set to control.

Another option is to take it back to factory settings. Menu -> wrench -> Reset all Settings

Can we assume you do not have the little round wheel with the white dot on the L? If it is then move off the L.

Did you get this straightened out yet? I have found that the lock lever on the selector button does not affect the functionality of the D500 subselector (joystick). But I have also found a few settings in the configuration that don't seem to work as expected. As has been asked. what are you asking it to do? I'd suggest first scrolling through the menu to see what functionality is indicated as being programmed. Then you may have to look in the manual to make swure the selected function is not incompatible with some other setting...

Glad it's fixed. I just got home and tried my D500. The lock on the multi-selector does disable the joystick. My memory was faulty. I use the joystick mainly to turn on the in-camera level by pressing it. Locking the selector does not affect that function.
