Excellent set! Amazing what a long trip down a wet, gravel/dirt road will do to a car, lol.
We left our sign in the 'Forrest', 2014. Amazing memories there! I second the ferry method, to visit AK!

These photos are from the Yukon, the Alaskan ones were stolen in a suitcase.

Awesome shots, mike...love your car, and the scenery is beautiful, and your wife is so pretty!

Very good testimonial photos from 60 years ago. But looking at photo # 2, with all that signage could you find your way back?

Thank you very very much Jorge, I did.

A really nice series. That cemetery is interesting.

Thank you very very much, that is how the Indians burrow their loved ones.

About 5 years ago my wife and I drove from Chicago area to Bellingham WA
where we caught a car ferry. Took that with 3 or 4 stops along the way to
Whittier AK (closest drop-off to Anchorage). Drove our car to Anchorage, Denali,
Fairbanks, and back home along the AlCan hwy. Trip of a lifetime. The ferry system
is run by the state of Alaska.

Thank you very very much, I think in 1960 there was no ferry?

Was the highway still gravel? My first trip to Alaska was in 1958 when I was 16. Alaska was not yet a state. Most people broke either a windshield or headlight from the gravel road.

Canada gravel, USA pavement.

Great set Mike and you drove a 59 Ford up there, brave man. Not because of the car, only the roads at the time and ground clearance.

I lived in Novato Calif. in 1962- 1963. Hamilton AFB. Beautiful area. By the way. Car needs a wash.

Thank you very very much, I know that AFB.
