I am interested in purchasing a set of Lee100 Graduated ND filters. I have found a set of 1 stop, 2 stop and 3 stop filters on Amazon from the 2Filter company located in Gilsum, NH. Has anyone dealt with or had any experience with this company? Is their product a knock-off or do they sell true Lee filters? Thanks in advance for your reply.

It appears to be a legitimate business. Also trades as Filter Connection. In business for over 20 years with revenues of over 600K / annum. (Quick Google search)

2Filter has a solid reputation. I haven't bought from them but I know of others who have.

Here's their main site:

You cannot go wrong with Lee ND grads. Does this include the Lee 100 filter holder? You will also need threaded rings for your lenses.

I found they produced an unusual cast, I prefer the Neewer Fader ND filter

If you have any doubts just buy this stuff from B&H. They have free shipping and if you get their credit card, they knock the tax off. Just pay it off monthly so as to not be charged interest.

Oh, did I say that most things ship free from B&H? Thought so! LOL

I am on a budget and the savings from 2filter more than offset the tax but you make a good point about the free shipping. I will look at the overall difference versus purchasing them from B&H.

You could try going to the Lee website and see if they have a list of authorized retailers/distributors. This would give you confidence that the filters are Lee's and not knockoffs.

Seriously?

There's a big difference between graduated ND filters and so-called "fader" or variable ND filters... They serve very different purposes.

Personally, I haven't used my graduated ND filters in years. I only keep them in case I need to shoot film, which hasn't happened very often recently. Grad NDs simply aren't needed with digital. I can think of a lot of other, far more beneficial ways to spend the $400 to $500 it would cost to put together a basic set of Lee 100mm Grad NDs along with the holders and adapters to fit them to lenses. They're also bulky to carry around, slow to use, difficult to shade very effectively, tricky to clean and the optical resin filters are easily damaged. Lee filters have no multi-coatings, either. With digital, there are various post-processing methods that do a far better and more controllable job than Grad ND filters ever did.

However, if I were buying 100x150mm Grad NDs today, I'd look at Formatt Hitech, Nisi and Benro, all of which are made of high quality optical glass. The Formatt and Benro are multi-coated, too. I'm not sure whether or not the Nisi have been multi-coated. I suspect not, because the Nisi filters are considerably less expensive than the Formatt and Benro filters. Those cost between $200 and $250 each, while the Nisi are around $130 or $150 each. Tiffen also makes Grad ND in 4x5.65" size that are top quality glass and multi-coated, but at more than $400 each are even more expensive.

It's been some time, but I've bought from 2Filter in the past and they were helpful, great to deal with and had some good values.
