Great Blue Heron Flyby with Rookery in the distance
The rookery is on the other side of the river and one can only get closer by boat. The third photo is significantly cropped to show a portion of the rookery. There are probably 50-60 nests in a grouping of 4 trees.

Are 1 and 2 the same bird?

Thanks, Bill. Same bird, so close that both show the time as 4:32:18. Must have been a sudden cloud shift.

Nice - and I particularly like that tree shot I can imagine them saying in heron-talk, "I'll meet you at the tree about two..."
