I normally post to "The Pampered Pets Corner/Lensbaby", but the past weekend I was able to capture this stunning hawk that was visiting my neighbors telephone pole. I happened to see him as I was looking out my back window, noticed it was eating something and prayed it would stay put long enough for me to grab my camera and head across my back yard to the dividing fence. The hawk did not disappoint and once I downloaded the photos, it looked like it was eating a fish. Not sure where the fish came from as there are no ponds close to me
Handheld, 100-400 which weighs a ton, so I was totally floored that I managed to get any photos that weren't a blurry mess. Thanks for looking and keep up the great job everyone, I love seeing your photographs!
Res-shouldered Hawk for sure. Good shots

Beautiful set!
Thank you Mike, I love seeing these majestic birds come thru the yard every so often. The birds I feed aren't too happy about it, but it's the nature of the beast unfortunately. I do love seeing the hawks though, we have two or three different varieties.
Thanks again-

Thank you Joe, it always makes my day when I can catch a glimpse of them anywhere near my property, this was super exciting for me

Nice shots. I've never seen a hawk (Ospreys not included) eat a fish before. They are clever. They love hunting in yards. I wouldn't doubt it if it found a Koi pond and snatched one if it were hungry enough. Gary

Thank you GWR, I was so excited to see this magnificent bird and it was so far away that I couldn't see what it was eating until I loaded the photos from my camera and even then it's hard to tell, but it's kind of shiny so I'm guessing its a fish. Either way, it was a wonderful experience and your probably right about someone's koi pond.
Thanks again!
