Nikon aps-c lenses in the 6 to 10 mm range

What wide angle lenses do you use, or know of that are good for extra-wide angle on an aps-c/dx camera like a D7100? Looking for scenery, panoramas, indoor interior design, and realize full frame is better suited. Realistically I'll only spend a few hundred dollars, but don't avoid talking about the really expensive stuff. My perception is manufacturers reserved the really nice stuff for full frame and avoid trying to compromise wide angle on the smaller sensors.

With a 1.5x crop factor, a 6mm focal length lens would yield the full-frame equivalent field of view of 9mm, if such a lens existed. I believe the 'widest' you can get is the AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED, although a 'fish eye' is probably not the best choice for your intended uses.

Bought the AF P Nikkor 10-20 4.5 5.6 G to use on my D7200. Inexpensive, small, light and capable, despite being a bit "plasticy". Note: Shop - I got mine new for around $250 delivered

Double check whether your D7100 can be updated via firmware to use a new AF-P lens. If no, consider limiting your AF-capable selections to AF-S.

Rockwell lists it as compatible with the D7100, but worth checking before OP buys.

This lens will work on the FD7100, with the latest firmware update. BUT...it doesn't have a VR switch, and the camera does not provide a menu function to turn VR off.

This is a manual lens, but will do the job for your price point.

Thanks, all. Nikon's site says my and many camera's can use the AF-P lenses. There is a Tamron B023N that costs a little more in 10-24mm. Since I'm only interested in the low mm end, I assume Nikon would be the better choice.

That is very much a matter of opinion. My personal experience is that working with lenses the same brand as the camera works best. No off brand lens I have bought has remained in my kit. Others have had success with other manufacturers lenses. Your choice.

The Tokina 11-20 f2.8 (or the prior model 11-16 f2.8) is excellent for DX bodies. Well-built with great IQ. Read the Ken Rockwell reviews.

Check out the Sigma 8-16mm, available in Nikon mount. Considerably wider and optically better than the Nikon 10-20mm. I can post examples if you'd like.

I like my Sigma 10-20 on my D7200. Anything shorter than 10 would be down into the fisheye category. You just have to be careful how much you tip it up or down. You can get verticals that tip in or out. I used mine exclusively on our Utah canyons trip and really like the results. The pincushioning didn’t bother me at all.

I successfully use several AF-P VR Tele models with my D7100, so my guess is they should, but I do not have a superwide to test.

I use a Tokina 11mm-20mm and it works well for me. At 11mm it is roughly the equivalent to a 16mm wide angle lend.

I bought a used "Tokina AT-X PRO 11-16mm f/2.8 SD MF DX IF AF Lens For Nikon" on ebay for $283 with tax and shipping 4 months ago. I think that is as wide angle in a non-fisheye lens as I have seen in that price range. It's a good lens.
