Lots of good straps out there. I use luma labs...made in the USA.
Look into arca plates with a QD attachment point...more secure and fast release.

Do any hogs have experience with a shoulder strap capable of handling a Nikon D500 attached to a Nikon 200-500 lens? What are your thoughts? Thanks for your help.

I am not used to a body and glass that big. For a camera with a small lens, I use a wrist strap. Obviously, that won’t work in this case. For my Canon 1v-HS, I have a wide neck strap about 2 inches wide (like a guitar strap) and is stretchable. I find it comfortable when I have all 8 batteries on board.
I’m not really a fan of a shoulder strap. It distributes all the weight to the should and puts the camera upside down.

I have always considered shoulder or neck straps to be useful only to masochists who enjoyed having their chest or abdomen pounded by a camera. That is until I set about solving the very same problem you have. I settled on a combination of a Cotton carrier belt harness and a Peak Design adjustable strap The Cotton Carrier keeps the camera stabilized and the load can be shared by it and the strap. I mounted the Cotton Carrier lug on the lens foot to keep the load off of the camera body tripod attachment and keep the lens away from my leg. The camera is secure and both hands are free. At 84 I need the ability to use a monopod, walking stick or trekking poles for the extra stability when moving across uneven ground.

That's a fine rig you have there but it protrudes far too much for my liking. Glad it works for you and thanks for the pictures. Good shooting to you!

Thanks to great guidance from a couple of members I am now acutely aware of the critical need for support for both the camera and the lens. Do any know of a sling with accessories that have two attachment points. One for the camera and one for the lens. I now can see just attaching to the camera with a lens this heavy is asking for trouble. What I desire is member savvy and experience. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Not sure why you need to attach the camera? I only attach the lens via the foot (with the Arca replaced foot). It actually allows me to remove camera and add TC with the lens held to my strap if I need to add a TC.
If one thing the answers of the different members show, personal preference varies greatly! Personally my shoulder never bothers me from the Black Rapid and carrying the weight while some of the straps hanging around my neck do bother me. So looks like lots of variability in how people prefer redistributing weight.

The camera is not heavy enough to cause any problems...
Big lenses...you attach to the lens collar which is PLENTY beefy enough to handle all of the weight...camera body included.
Don't overcomplicate things.

Agree! Too many straps if both camera and foot attached in my view (chance of tangling up the straps). I have never had a camera fall off the lens.
Also can't imagine carrying the 200-500mm in front with a cotton carrier (smaller lens, yes but not a lens this size). But different strokes for different people.

I tend to overthink. Thanks for this.

I am so satisfied with Peak Design that I have installed them on all of my cameras. They sell different sizes and thicknesses to accommodate just about any size camera/lens combination from my tiny z50 with a 16-50 lens to my D750 with a Sigma 150-600 attached. Have never had a single problem with any of them.

Can you show a pic of the the Peak Design strap attached to your D750 and Sigma 150-600mm lens? Do you attach it to the lens foot or camera? Does it hang down?

All the pics I have seen on B&H and the Peak Design web site seem to show it on the camera, hence my question.

The strap is attached via the included quick disconnects. The combination hangs vertically and is slung over my right shoulder. While I wouldn't want to do a ten mile hike like this, it is actually fairly comfortable. This is the widest of the straps offered.
