Does stage left refer to the performer's left or the audience's left?

Try your favorite search engine!

Will help this time. It's directorial marks for stage actors and company, hence audience has no relevance.

Hope this helps. J. R.

Direction is always from the performer’s standpoint.

Stage right/left from the perspective of the performer.
Relative to the audience, it would be house right/left

Thanks All that answered! I posted this shot under the Photo Gallery but in case you missed it -- as you can see the Geese are flying off to our right. I wanted to name the shot properly, thus the question. The name of the shot as you can see is Exit, Stage Left which I know now is the right way to name the shot.

Thanks again,
Mike

Learn something new (or have knowledge corrected) everyday. I had always thought that stage right/left was from the audience's perspective.

Is right field on the first base side, or do I have that wrong too?

Good point! I think someone has one of them backwards. My guess is baseball since stage entertainment pre dates baseball by three or so centuries
