Nice laptop. No problem until... I had an extra laptop hdd from a computer with a bad motherboard. I bought a SATA-to-USB cable and connected it to a Linux computer. The drive showed up and I saved all my valuables😇. Then I had a brainstorm: What if I just switched that HDD with the SSD that is in my laptop that is good? I did. No boot. Just a grey startup screen showing LAN. OK. So I put the SSD that was in the good laptop back where it originally was.. No boot😲. Same as with the other drive. Both have Windows 10. The HDD has Photoshop and my other apps $$$. Connected to the SATA to USB connector, each shows up on my desktop, but neither boots in the good laptop no matter what I do in BIOS. Would really appreciate an idea to try. Not trying to boot off of either connected via USB. Installed HDD in good laptop. Nothing. Tried the SSD on the good laptop. Nada. No help online. Lenovo zero help😰

Go to your laptop bios setup and chose to install default settings, this should set it up the way it shipped, I think a setting was disturbed in your work. Try this link for the possible problem.

Tgere are usually two settings for the SATA CONFIG. Try the other option, I recall having the same problem. As for the old drive working in the laptop, chances are It will not unless you are dealing with the model of Lenovo laptop.
