Hello, was wondering if anyone has any experience with printing photos in book form from some of the people on line?
I would like to do a 8.5 x 11 landscape hard cover book for parents for a christmas present. I have been looking at VioVio and Blurb. Would like a place where I can lay the book out and send them a high res pdf. I looked at shutterfly and snapfish, but it looked like I could not get just a simple layout of white pages and photos, maybe I need to look at them more.
Any Suggestions or help would be great, also sending photos, rgb or cmyk? Any thoughts on what works best with these kind of places?
I did a couple with Shutterfly - very happy with the results - don't see why you can't get plain if you want it - I like their templates, tho - you can spend a TON of time decorating otherwise. A bigger issue is having them NOT sharpen and "adjust " the images - there must be a switch somewhere !
Thanks, I will check them more, if anyone else has something to add, that would be great.

I've used Shutterfly and Smilebooks. I prefer Smileboos out of Germany, they have a much better quality book and paper. They have a great turnaround time, offer great specials and really secure packing. Check them out they are great. They also offer designer services for those that don't want to do the layout themselves.
We did a book with Adorama Pix, very happy, very easy, fast service, Bob.
Thanks, I will check them out this weekend.
Did you feel they left your photos as you sent them? Where you happy with the paper weight?
Yes, nice heavy paper, hard cardboard cover, you get to see how the photo looks while seting up. Bob.
Try "MY PUBLISHER.COM".
The software resides on your computer. You upload your images when the book satisfies you.
I've made a couple of books with My Publisher. They always offer coupons. download to your computer and you have it there always. You can build a book basically with flexible layouts, save the book on your PC, until you get a coupon or not. You can preview youir book online. Here's a book of mine I made to display my photography.
http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?.rand=2isga4u6n6bp0and I also made one for my mother for Christmas...and loves it! My publisher had made a mistake with my first copy and glady sent me a second fix copy.
A double thumbs up with My Publisher.
I have a sister-in-law that has done a couple of books with Shutterfly, and I saw the finished product. Both books were very well made.
I have used Blurb to print 4 books (hardcover), and I am pleased with the results. I also have a friend who has used Blurb to publish several books with good results.
I prefer artscow.com they are out of hong kong but you can get any size book and also a deluxe book which is made like a board book. they are very good quality and have awesome specials!
I have done several books with AdoramaPix as well. The quality is excellent. I have had others say that theirs never turned out that well. I don't know what companies they used though. AdoramaPix does offer the option to have them alter your photos or leave them as you uploaded them though.
I have done 3 books with walgreens and they do a good job and if you watch for their 40% off coupon it will be worth the wait.

If you have a Costco on your area you might try them. I've haven't had a book from them but have had good results with canvas and other custom specialities. they seem to have a good range of sizes and decent prices.
