this fella popped up on my lawn today-not best pics taken through bedroom window on Nikon 70-300mm at full stretch but thought he is a cute little guy to share

Thought some might enjoy! "The European green woodpecker (Picus viridis) is large green woodpecker with a bright red crown and a black moustache. Males have a red centre to the moustache stripe which is absent in females. It is resident across much of Europe and the western Palearctic but in Spain and Portugal it is replaced by the similar Iberian green woodpecker (Picus sharpei)." From WikiPedia

this is my 1st siting of this particular species ,we do have regular visits to our garden off a lesser spotted woodpecker and hopefully our green friend will visit in future
