I believe you are correct. The YAK-3 appears bulkier than those in the photograph, while the YAK-50 is more “slender” and has a small radial engine, which seems consistent with the photo.

Yak 50 with M-14 radial engine (ccw rotation) yak 52 is 2 seat Chinese versions are nanchang cj-5 they have a bent wing and a square tail otherwise same airframes used for aerobatics
