The owner Dean Lewis says business is better now than when he sold recycled car parts. A big part of that business are photographers who travel from all over the country and all over the world to shoot photos of "American Iron".

Panchromatic B&W film records all colors of light in the same tones of grey. The light intensity (the number of photons per square inch) is what determines what shade of grey gets produced on film. Colored filters are used to produce contrast between different colored objects that reflect the same amount of light. Yellow and Orange filters yield subtle effects where the yellow filter will slightly darken a clear blue sky and will separate shades of green. A Red filter produces a very strong effect and greatly increases contrast, turning blue skys to nearly black. An Orange filter is midway between the effects of Yellow and Red.

The 50mm focal length, when used with a 35mm film or full-frame sensor, is considered to match the perspective / field of view as seen by the human eye.

Old Car City is what happens when vintage cars meet untamed nature.

Old Car City

Old Car City is just off I-75 in White, Georgia, about an hour drive north of Atlanta. The former junkyard claims to be the largest collection of old cars in the world. Some of the cars have been here for 70 years.

Thank you John, Jim, RKL349, Dennis, Greg, 47greyfox, Jim, Susan, Earnest, Ron! I've had a good deal of luck on the weather over the years at OCC. On the days I was there, no rain, and even the overcast days have produced some interesting lighting under the tree canopy. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
