These guys are a dime a dozen around our golf coarse. A pain for the greens keepers, but fun to photograph. I am lucky enough to have a 600mm f/4 Sony gm, but I very rarely try my hand at hand holding this lens. But I hear more and more about folks managing to shoot successfully with this lens hand-holding. I decided to give it a try. For me, getting along in age, it's definitely possible, but not for long. After an hour or so, I'm done and putting it back on a tripod or monopod. Hope you enjoy, and as always, comments, both good and bad, are appreciated.

Now that I know I can hand hold it, at least for short durations, I think I will hold on to it for a bit longer. But, if I change my mind for some reason you will be the first to know. Thanks for the look.

Beautiful capture. Great rendering. Certainly worth hanging on to that lens. Please stay safe and keep on sharing.

Never heard of this species being referred to as "Baldpate". Checked it out. Learned something new today! Thanks for the look and comment. Have a great day in N. Utah. Wonderful part of the country. Drive thru a couple of times a year on the way to SW Montana!

Nice! I find a tripod difficult to use with wildlife the way I do wildlife. But a monopod really comes in handy. My tripod is used for landscapes only, or 95% of the time anyway.

I guess you don’t need to go to the gym just yet, Frank! That’s a gorgeous shot. The wing feathers are spectacular on download!
