While usually having the innate ability to step on unscooped dog piles or scat in the woods, I somehow avoided a pile of un identified scat on a well-worn trail. To my surprise I saw an unidentified but colorful beetle exploring the pile. I was intrigued with his antennae. I looked through my Audubon field guide and was unable to identify this little guy. Any help out there?
I think it's a form of carrion beetle. I ain't sure, though.
Thank-you for your reference QuickDraw. The beetle appears to be a marginal barrier beetle. I hope he cleaned his feet before entering his house.
