Color one is, to my eyes, much improved. The B&W pix are ok. Start with the raw file and lighten shadows all the way and then lighten highlights all the way. Then adjust to taste. Convert to B & W , lastly use the contrast slider to extend or decrease perceived dynamic range. Good work

Thanks, I miss the darkroom with paper and chemicals, things were so much easier then. :-) I'm making myself learn digital because I don't have a place to set up a darkroom and I'm seldom satisfied with commercial printing. :-)

I feel many of us hogs, started just as you. The amazing software advances simply makes one work harder and smarter at the same time. Imagine what Ansel Adam's would create with software.

Booth are very good. Please raise(lighten) the shadows a bit and with a mask or any tool in your processing software, darken the sky a tad.
Evens out the picture and makes detaiil easier to appreciate.

No preference for mono or color, cuz I can’t see much anywho. Good potential and you see it everyday. So, no reason not to reshoot.

Why bother reprocessing these ? Well it might reveal certain challenges that PP can’t handle, and this will guide you in reshooting it.

FWIW I’d 86 the sign even if it said “EST 1056”. As a visual it’s a 101% loser :-( As an informational caption it belongs outside the frame, like any caption.

This place is on the road between where I work and live. The sign says Established in 1933. I can't decide between B&W or color. What do you think?
