The example given in the book earlier was accurate ... but somehow you think it's untested...lol.
Then the same methodology is given by someone else a few posts later...and you respond...interesting ideas.

How do you find a conflict between “untested” and “ideas” ? Ideas are ideas and as such many are untested. Test an idea thoroughly enough and you might replace ideas with facts. Acoarst facts can be global or contingent, but that seems beyond many folk’s pay grade.

There is no conflict or contradiction between “untested” and “idea”. You happen to think I contradicted myself. While I did not, even if I actually had done so, what makes that your problem anywho ?

Did I dismiss a printed page as untested advice ? Yes I did. No test result by the poster accompanied it. Printed material is just ink and paper. Freedom of the press does not involve mandatory fact checking. That is all too obvious.

The printed page is correct and pretty much every poster has posted the same thing.
Don't trust books now? Think they just write books without testing?

Lowkick, I agree on "jpg". my Canon 80D produces jpg either in 2 step or 3 step exposure. It sure limits PP w/ ON1 2021

I guess I had better try HRD in ON1 and compare with in camera HDR

In my Lumix FZ300, HDR bracketing sets at 1/3 of a stop increments in Aperture mode, and 1 full stop increments in MANUAL mode..

I Set the ISO, aperture priority, auto bracketing. This way I get the same ISO, aperture and DOF at different shutter speeds. I also use a cable or remote shutter release. This keeps my hands off the camera. I will spot meter highlights and shadows in the scene to determine the number of exposures (avg. 5-7).

My camera happens to have three programmable modes - that is, you can pre-set numerous camera settings, and by selecting the mode to one of the programmables, those settings are instantly in effect. So, one of them is set for HDR - Av mode, bracketing (I default to 5 shots from -2 thru +2), ISO 100, spot meter. Saves a lot of time, and, more importantly, helps to avoid screwing up and missing a good HDR opportunity.
