If you want to copy what someone else shot, ask them via PM. I agree on the idiotic use of acronyms.
Edit: See the post titled "Sekonic L858D-U needs F/W update for new Godox Transmitter" for an example of the ignorant use of the English language.

Did I say anything about copying what someone else shot? I would just like to know where the pictures are taken in case I'm traveling in that part of the country and I would like to explore it.

I take a lot of pictures inside my home. Should I post my address? Many pictures that I took I don't remember where or when. Don't tell me to use GPS tagger besides many were taken with film.

I agree in general. I would like to see at least the State and general location. In the past I have posted pictures of wildlife with no location because I didn't want the "thundering heard" disturbing the animals.

It's very unlikely specifying location of an image posted on UHH will result in a "thundering herd" at that site. Perhaps a few photographers may seek out and visit the location, but all of them showing up at the same time?

And keep po li tics out.

Even a reader posting a smiley, frowny, or laughy will get them a tick mark on the shit list and their post deleted.

Hmmm, this is getting a little out of hand... I asked for a location on scenic/buildings/statues/art/bridges/etc - nothing mentioned about shots in a private residence...

No sense in getting in an uproar over a simple request - if you don't want to post the information, you don't have to - I just put the thought out there so folks that are not familiar with the area would have an idea of where things are - a piece of art in the park might be common knowledge to the local folks - but out of area folks don't know anything about it...

I agree with you, but many people have a tendency to blow things out of proportion though.

Explicit or concise information saves me the trouble of Googling something to try to find out what they are talking about.

Oh my gosh! All that was asked was what the letters represented, i.e. ONF is Ocala National Forest. Give this person a break, they don't care where your living room is.

Geeze. I lived in Central Florida for 27 years and never heard/saw anyone reference "ONF".
Everyone called it Ocala National Forest.

Yeah it's a nice thought, but this place is also one that allows those of us in the photography community a little more privacy. So if someone doesn't want to post where their photos are taken then that's cool too. As someone else mentioned, you can always PM another member if you would like more information on where there photo was taken or what specific building it is.

Discussions about areas by name or abbreviations with no refernece to location - remember, not everyone is familiar with the area you are discussing - a local reference to a place means nothing to an outsider and sometimes Google does not have an answer...

Using abbreviations or acronyms for places/things - not everyone knows what they mean - please spell them out.

3D photos - it would be nice to see the original photo posted with it.
Some vision problems such as strabismus (eye turn), amblyopia (lazy eye), or poor binocular skills (eyes drift apart) can interfere with the ability to see true 3D.

Isn’t “3D” an abbreviation (or more likely an acronym) ? Why do you assume that everyone knows what it means ? Not everyone here uses a 3D printer. Google “3D” and see what you get. I did, and it seems that “3D” has nothing to do with photography ... unless you use it make your own lens hoods and such.

FWIW, I don’t see the value in location info accompanying posted photos. But I’ve never viewed UHH as a travelogue. Maybe many members do ?
