Many lakes in Canada are man made and the muck on the bottom emits methane. This methane gets trapped when the lake is freezing and causes bubbles to form. You can drill a hole in a bubble and set it on fire. It is crazy! On this particular day the temperature was -20 and the winds were howling which is why there is no snow on the lake. It is beautiful and worth freezing for.

Amazing image. There are also two sub shots in there. The top about a third and the bottom two thirds.

Killer, Kalina. Just plain killer.

(It always amazes me when I see people reply to winter shots with a 'looks too cold for me' sort of quip. You'd think they'd never heard of these things called 'clothes' or 'coats' or what have you, or have never imagined to put any on.)

Thank you, all you need are the proper layers and it is wonderful.

Wow! Talk about both beautiful and unusual (at least in most places)

Beautifully done, Kathleen. That’s a place I have on my bucket list for a return visit.
