My granddaughter was at the Lighthouse on Montauk Point, Long Island a couple of months ago. I asked her to take a few pics of the lighthouse. She has an iPhone Xr. Attached is a before and after picture. The before picture was worked on a little, brightness, contrast, etc. But then I tried "dehaze" under the filters tab and the after picture was the result. It seems like a dramatic difference. I know there have been recent posts about manufactured skies in photos. That wasn't done here. Actually, I don't know how to do that. But I was amazed at the result. I'm just wondering, how exactly does this "dehaze" function work. I've tried it on other pictures I have and sometimes there's an effect, sometimes it really does nothing.
Just throwing it out there.
My understanding is that it selective adjusts mid-tone contrast. Maybe some saturation too?
