Testing - 1 - 200 -600. Sony 200-600mm lens that is
Well, I pulled the trigger on this lens. Not a 2.8, but with a good low light camera, the a7III, it should be fine. I tested it hand held on a robin out my back door. I can see the iris in the pupil of its' eye, so that is good enough for me. Florida and birding, here I come. This is at 1000, 600mm, not sure of aperture. SOOC with heavy cropping.
You givin' me GAS... Enjoy safely!
Keep us posted on your experience. I have a a7riii with a 100 - 400 and just acquired a 1.4 TC. The 2.0 TC was a bit soft.
I had heard that the Tc on that lens was not optimum. I can already say that this lens is a BEAST. I mean to carry! It weighs over 5 lbs with camera. I am going to put two screw in D rings onto the foot, and attach my Black Rapid carry strap over the shoulder (crossed) to carry it. That way it will be upside down at my left hand. A quick swing up and it will be in position to shoot. It internally focuses and changes zoom. That is one of the reasons I picked this lens, it does not grow when zooming. Anyway, I will keep all in mind as I test and use it. I have always wanted a really sharp lens at 600mm, and this seems to be it. I won't ever get as sharp as Regis in Coeur d'Alene, Id, but it will be better than my past shots.
