Amazon is pretty good about their 2 day delivery, especially if you have Amazon Prime. They usually use UPS but I have had packages sent by UPS only to have them tranfered to USPS in mid trip and delivered by my Postman? Go figure?

If you go the UPS Ground option by tracking your package you will find it will stop at every wide spot in the road and take days to get your package.

If you go the UPS Next Day Air option it is the fastest but the most costly depending on where you live. This is kind of comical... I live in Central Connecticut and ordered a package that had to by law be delivered NDA. The package was sent from New Hampshire to, I believe it was Virginia? From there it went past my town to Shrewsbury Mass. From there it went past my town to Stratford, Ct. From there it went to Hartford, Ct. and then to the UPS facility in Windsor Locks, Ct. where I picked it up. I could have sat on a highway overpass and watched my package go by 3 times before I eventually got it.

The only times I can remeber a package being late was during 9/11 and the bad Nor' Easter' snowstorm we had last year. Keep us posted on how long it takes to get your package.

I ordered something from a major web site and I had it sent "NEXT DAY". Next day arrived and I didn't get it. I called and was told that "NEXT DAY" means a day or 2 after they get the order so that they can process it. Go figure. (P.S. I will still order from them but not "NEXT DAY".)

That sounds like one of those typical answers you would get from "Stephen" in Customer Relations in one of those Togarainian countries.

Not photography related, but I ordered a custom OtterBox cover for my Galaxy S3. I paid $14.95 for 2 day shipping(ordered Tuesday Oct. 2. I needed it by the weekend because I leave on a 2+ week sales trip. Well, they inform me they will ship it Oct. 8th. I politely asked them to credit my CC for the 2 day delivery and ship it free regular ground. Well, guess what? They shipped it the next day for free and it should arrive tomorrow. Win Win for me. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if a company promises something, hold their feet to the fire. Over and out

That is sneaky, isn't it? They refer to the shipping time, although Amazon means two days (sometime overnight) from the time the order is placed.

Since no one is selling at a discount, I'd get something like that locally and not have to wait. Unfortunately, our local camera store adds $100 to list price. That's where I got my D90. I checked a couple of weeks ago on the D7000, and they were $100 high, so I ordered online.

In most states you also get to pay sales tax if you buy locally. Amazon so far isn't charging sales tax. In Idaho that means over $120 for the D600.

Since I do Amazon Prime two day shipping is free.

Amazon tax collection varies by state, but I heard that they're going universal - all 50 states. In NY, they've been collecting sales tax for as long as I can remember. Some online sites do not charge. If I bought the D600 with lens, I would pay an extra $208. That's well worth an eight-hour round trip to NH to buy it there. With about $55 in gas and $6 in tolls, I'd have a nice day's drive and save almost $150.

They must have retail outlets in NY. Yes, I understand they have agreed with the State of CA to begin collecting sales tax for it...next year, I think. I don't know if they'll start for all states then. Of course all states would love them to!

If they do I live next to OR which has no sales tax so could go that way. Or at least for a while to other sellers who don't follow Amazon's lead of caving in.
