Great work Cany. I have one still unopened. A friend gave it to me for my 60th birthday, 12 years ago.

Don

If you send it to me, Don, I'll show you how to open it.....

Sharing? SHARING??? Who's "sharing"?

Get your own bottle.

And bring it with you when you stop by this afternoon, too. Okay?

HA! Might bring my half empty (half-full?) bottle of Makers Mark. I also enjoy green relief.

OMG!!!!1!! Have you ever SEEN such a thing? There's TWO squirrels over there!!! Where's my view camera! (Should I use the 15" Tele-Optar, or would I be considered gauche if I used three ice cubes........ <digs charts and tables out the cabinet, consults the Oracle of Delphi, and poses a query on UHH.... is advised to dispense with ice cubes and the 'official' 8oz cut crystal bourbon sippin' glass altogether and just hit it straight from the bottle> ?)

Buddy of mine --a regular American guy with red hair and freckles-- out in Lone Pine CA has a wife named Junco. (Having been born in Japan, and thus being being properly Japanese --or in her case, having emigrated to the US as a kid, I suppose that makes her 'nikkei,'-- she pronounces it 'Joon-ko.') Some years back, they came to visit, and as it turned out, while they were here and sitting in my livingroom (obviously not being home when he got the notification), he interviewed by phone for the NPS Ranger job he'd applied for at Manzanar. Pretty good interview, I thought, having had and conducted a few of my own to gauge by, right up to the point when the interviewer asked if he had any ill feelings or attitudes about the Japanese.

(So as not to interrupt the interview) Junco chuckled softly as he answered by saying 'only when my wife shows me up for being a better hiker than I am.' I sprayed coffee (or it might've bourbon, I don't recall now) out my nose and all over myself, remembering some of the l o o o o o n n n n g g g mulit-day backpacks we'd all been on together, and having observed for myself that she WAS indeed the better hiker.

And that made (the only) Junco (I personally know) rather happy, even if she does sometimes get a little crazy in the rain.

"....rain dry notch so the birds are happy"? What does that even mean? And put down that bottle of Makers already!

Ha! Dry notch refers to a break in the storms coming our way. Allowed me to grill a couple of veggie burgers! Goes great with whiskey of any type, except for Rebel Yell!

Juncos are too much work for small return.

Around here we pronounce Junco as junk-o. Always did in-person job interviews.

Be glad to treat you to a couple fingers worth of Woodford any time you stop by, Dick. Be even gladder to treat you to a second couple fingers worth if you bring the bottle. If instead you bring some Ezra Brooks (which I confess I've never tried), then I'd be happy to give it a taste or two. Or maybe even three tastes or two. After all, if its bourbon, I imagine I'll find it acceptable.

Personally, I pine for a bottle of Wellers 107. Its been ages since I've had any. And for some reason they won't ship it out here. Its a travesty! I may have to file a class action lawsuit!!!!

My stepson works in a liquor store and is always telling me what's good, better, best of Bourbon and Single Malt Scotch.....and he is seldom wrong!! I'd love to sit and visit you, but I'm still house bound, did go to the range last week but couln't hardly raise my trap gun, shot at 2 birds and walked off the line! I'm getting better though, cancer doc says I'm okay and going in March for last CT scan.

WHAT? Your stepson works in a liquor store? And only now you're revealing this bit of very interesting information? Dick.........

(He does get an employee's discount doesn't he? Maybe he could get me a case or two of Double Oaked Woodford??? I'll be glad to pay for shipping....)

Really good to hear you're doing as well as you are though --out shootin' while housebound, eh? hmmm--, regardless whether <hint, hint> that case (or two?) of Woodford gets shipped via FedEx or Big Brown.

Hey Cany, I don' t know how it happened, but I just completely missed the January 3rd issue of the Hog. It must have been that "Old Corncob" I had been drinking, I mean tasting. I liked the image and the discussion. In these days of business contraction when all sorts of old line companies are ceasing to exist, it is damn refreshing to go into a liquor store and have the choice of scores of different kinds of spirits to choose from and all in glass bottles. And as far as those pestiferious little panthers, we have a sign that says "Time With Cats Is Never Wasted". It may not be wasted, but sometimes you sure pay for it.

Paid for it --the "Time With Cats"-- to my peril today. Actually, I wasn't spending time with the cats, exactly. I was sitting at my "Arbeit Mach Frei" workstation (my computer desk) this morning when one of the felines decided he/she (the two look so much alike I'm not always sure which one is which) wanted to sit on my lap. Having leaped up from the floor. With claws extended. Ouch.

There was blood everywhere. The back of my left hand got raked raw. My pinky finger damned near got clawed off. The trouble with booze stores in Ootah is that they're booze stores in Ootah, and the selection is limited in ways no mom & pop booze store anywhere else I've ever lived has ever been limited. Oh, sure, I can get Industry Standard Woodford (which thankfully I can't complain too much about), but Double Oaked? I have to go to Colorado to get that. In Ootah, though? No frikkin' way! And Wellers 107? No bloody chance in hell. And speaking of blood, I was able to re-attach my pinky finger with a minimum of screaming and blasphemizing on my part. (At both the panthers generally, not knowing which one had mauled me so viciously.) Enuf so that I was able to go out late this afternoon and re-shoot something I wanted to re-shoot.

Old Corncob? Eh? Wot? Is it tasty?
