If you filter and count your images in Lightroom, what surprises did you find? Do you use your own usage data to plan to sell unused lenses / cameras? Or maybe, to change the lenses you'll use more in 2021?
The circa 1981 Canon FD 200mm f/4 macro was my #1 used lens for keepers (mounted to a Sony a7II). Merging all the extended configurations, last year's #1 lens was the second most frequent in 2019, the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM (mounted to an EOS 5DIII).
I will say, my Nikon AF-S 50mm 1.8g Lens for my Nikon D3300 Camera, 2nd was my Nikon 18-140mm Lens.
my most used lens is a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 on my d850
I've taken very few photos in 2020--my Alaska tour was cancelled and I've been reluctant to drive anywhere except for essential purposes. In any case, the D7100 with 18-200VR2 lens is about the only tool I use.
I am amazed at how many members are using 300mm+ lenses. I guess I'll should get one!
I've acquired, over the last year and 1/2, a variety of Nikon lenses from an old 24-50mm 3.3-4.5, AF 50mm 1.8, a 70-210mm 4-5.6D [macro], and a walk-around 28-105 3.5-4.5D [macro]. I do find the 28-105 most flexible and useful. Already, I have too many choices! As you can see, I'm shopping on a budget as these are all 'classics' from the 90's. Is there a particularly good choice for a Nikon compatible 300mm+ I should look into?
BTW, these are used on my D750.
Thank you!
I guess it depends on what kind of photography you do. I sold my Tamron 150-600 f/2.8 G2 because I can't physically hand hold anymore so the birding I used wasn't possible. With all off the astrology events later in 2020, I really miss that lens to use on my tripod.
D7200 with my Nikon 18-300

I shoot M4/3, and have a 45-175 (90-350). I use the long end because I have it rather than need it. I don't often go above above a FF equivalent of 150/200. This might be the case with most amateur photographers.
Lime Secretariat by 30 lens (lengths ) the Tamron 24-70 f2.8
Canon 500 f4 followed by Canon 24-105 f4 on 6D
35 mm in FF format; 23 mm in APS-C format.
[I use Nikons, Leicas, and Fujis]
This was a very interesting challenge. I looked at this year and last year with the biggest difference not being able to shoot grandchildren's sports and dances and such. For 2019 it was my Nikon 24-70mm G VR with a D850. This year it was Nikon 70-200mm closely followed by 300mm pf using both D500 and D850. Both years over 10,000 photos with the most popular lens.
Thanks for helping provide the tools to do that!
Steve
Canon RF 24-240 on both my R and R5. Probably to most versatile lens I have had from semi macro to BIF.

500pF attached to my D500 mostly but using the D850 more on rainy/dark days. 70-200 f 2.8 FL on my D850 most of the time.
