I think that if someone spied on me, their punishment should be having to watch me exclusively for about two days.

Over 330,000.000 people in this country and someone is spying on YOU?? What exactly are you doing that anyone could possibly be interested?

Not just spying on HIM, spying on everyone! Data harvesting, big money in it!

Red6 and others have echoed how I think on this. Your digital life means you are trackable, but the intention is about as nefarious as product marketing.
Did you know that if you have a Facebook account, that FB is tracking your browsing history even if you are not logged into Facebook? ( https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-clear-history-offline-activity-tracker-tool-how-to-use-2020-1 ) That one annoyed me, for some reason!

The intent goes far beyond product marketing. There are thousands of people world wide processing the data 24/7 that has been mined about you. They are analyzing, correlating, dissecting, examining, manipulating etc to determine what needs to be done to influence your decisions--- whether it be to buy Dial soap, or buy a Ford truck or to vote for a particular candidate and party etc etc. These "trigger packages" are sold to interested parties who employ this data to change your mind to be consistent with their desires and intentions.

All electronic devices sold to private consumers have a power-off mode. Effectively, then, these devices become silent or invisible to the communication system when switched off.

My Android telephone also has a switch that allows me to turn off tracking of the location of my telephone. But Google Maps refuses to work if this location mode has been disabled.

I believe, however, that even if depowered, a device may still communicate subterraneanly by another avenue to the communication system, even if only by a signal using power just enough to function for this purpose.

Removing the battery from the telephone may defeat this alternate avenue. With absolutely no power, the telephone becomes dead to the system.

At the same time, though, I do not doubt that engineers can design a telephone that continues to operate using a small internal battery for staying in touch with the communication system.

I'd like to hear from others more checked out on this subject of electronic connectedness.

A couple of months ago I posted how it seemed someone was listening to conversations within my house and that it was spooky since I did not own one of those interactive devices nor did I have a computer with built-in camera operating at the time the conversations took place. One instant was when my daughter asked if I had a powerful magnet to so she could pull a needle from a slot in a table she had been sewing on. I got two ads about magnets, one proclaiming they sold the most powerful magnets available. ????

Well, the answers I received pretty much were in agreement that we are being spied on mainly through our cell phones. You may find the following interesting: It is Edward Snowden on Utube talking about cell phones.

If the link doesn't work, dial up Utube and ask for the Edward Snowden interview on cell phones.

Great comments.
You state some facts and then speculation (which you identify as speculation) and then ask for more information. You did not pontificate nor try to pass off your suspicions as fact, instead you enhanced the conversation by asking for additional facts. That is great and I wish more people on this forum would take that approach. I am not trying to be patronizing but wanted to express my appreciation in the hope others may follow. I am not necessarily talking about this thread specifically but in general terms.

HOW TO DEFEAT THE SYSTEM.
If everybody would use key trigger words on their emails, cell phones etc. it would defeat the listeners. Intersperse words throughout your phone calls, texting, emails etc. like: bomb, airplane, pressure cooker, explosives, kill. You get the picture. The illegal spy system would become overloaded and worthless! But, everyone has to get on board, or a lot of us.
