Last night, we went to bed before midnight, but my wife gently nudged me awake about 2:00am. Good news? Bad news? Late night snack? Nope, it was the slightly-past-full moon that was shining in a cloudless sky. Starting to get nice shadows in the craters. Hauled out my big Gitzo tripod and took a few shots (it was just about freezing). This one turned out OK. Oops, I didn't update my copyright at 2:00 in the morning! Oh well...
Happy New Year to all Hoggers.
Good shot! Worth getting up for.
I really like the depth on the right and bottom.
Great image, got to love the moon. HAPPY NEW YEAR HOGGERS.
Great moon shot. The atmosphere was clean and you got great definition in the moonscape. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, terrific capture! Happy New Years
Very much worth the effort. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Thanks, Alliebess. I wasn't sure at first whether I wanted to be up and out in the cold, but I'm now happy that I did.

Thanks, Longshadow. When you can see the detail, you can see that the moon has taken a lot of hits in its time. Thanks for looking.
Thank you very much, flyguy!
