Short of renting, the Z50 was a pretty inexpensive way to test the mirrorless waters. I bought it with the 16-50 kit lens and FTZ adapter, and I'm learning how it works and what's different conpared to a DSLR. This shot (using the FTZ and a 24-120 F mount lens) isn't the prettiest landscape, but had the major advantage of being about 5 minutes from my home.
The Z50 has surprisingly good ergonomics for being so small, and I love being able to see the actual exposure in the EVF. Having used Nikons since my first digital camera, the menus and shooting experience are very familiar. So far so good, and I have to say it's a lot of fun shooting with this little camera.
Lovely photo! I also have the 24-120mm f4 on my D750, and it balances nicely. I'm guessing it is rather front-heavy on the diminutive Z50, but yields great shots just the same.
This shot would convince me. Fun is really important. Like a breath of fresh air. And its a pretty darned nice shot.

I must remark that this is an unbelievable photograph. I’m not ready to go into mirrorless. As for it not being pretty, we are in disagreement. It is quite attractive and gives the camera justice.
Happy and a healthy New Year
That photo makes it look like the new guy gets the job done.
Very nicely done, Bill. The download is beautiful. I give the Z50 an A+.
I find this image quite appealing.
Bill, nice acquisition - use it well!

Thanks ELNikkor - I'm glad you liked it. I didn't really have any issues with the lens being too heavy, and I shot with it using the EVF as well as the flip out screen down very low to the ground.

Thanks Mark - I'm glad you liked it. I've been using DSLR's for a long time, and wanted to see what it was like using a mirrorless camera. As long as I get a reasonably good exposure, the Z50 seems to punch above it's weight class.

Thanks Scruples for your very nice comments. To be honest, I like the image as well. I wasn't sure how the Z50 would render it, but the EVF really helped out with seeing what the actual exposure would look like.
Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Thanks John - I'm pretty happy with it so far. I didn't have any great expectations when I ordered it, but have to say it doesn't feel like a typical budget camera and includes many of the features of its higher priced siblings.
