So typical I am often in the wrong position in this case wrong baseline to get really great photo of their faces.

Those would have been awesome. It does happen all the time to me. My most positioning screwup is in football. I went to a lot of games where I would think ok I am going to the end zone after this play. Dummy, they would score a touchdown and I would miss it all. As time went on I have been doing better but still have been caught a few times. keep posting. Thanks

I used to take a lot of soccer pics and of course I was always out of position for something. I learned to choose a spot and stay put for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Sure, I missed some good shots but you can’t be everywhere. If you shoot a lot of games it balances out.

Thanks for the comments Feedback.

Now @ age 80 I have resolved Myself to pick as good of a location as possible, and wait for the plays to come my way.

In Basketball I forget to think what side of the court to settle on...I try to get on the side where I am facing right handed shooters since most kids are right handed or shoot right handed. Too often I get a decent photo but the back side of the players.

I have learned to go thru a little check list, position, check my camera settings, make sure battery is charged. The other night I had set my camera to single shot "focus only"...and began to take action photos...kept thinking why does shutter not working ha...Then realized I needed to set on Continuous focus mode with shutter speed fast for action photos.

A very Happy, Blessed New Year, Happiness, Health, and Prosperity to everyone.

Super clean images for ISO 8000 - you have to love the D3S.
