Good job, UTMike. No mountains here...just some big hills so thanks for sharing yours.

Yeah, Gary, but I do not have cool shiny bugs and insects either. Happy New Year!

Really nice set Mike. I especially like the light on the mountains.

Thanks, Vince. That light is why I get there so early.

Farmington Bay is an 18,000 acre wildfowl management area on the Great Salt Lake just across I-15 from Farmington, UT, a community about 20 miles north of Salt Lake City.

This area has many resident and migrating species. It is the source of many local bird photos, so I decided to visit it. It is much closer to me than Bear Ears MBR, my usual bird area visit.

As usual, I arrived before the sun got there. These shots track the sun rise. The attached set shows views in the WMA of the area and its surroundings. I will post the bird shots tomorrow.

Downloads are the best to see these dim shots.

Mike, a fine set of photos! The downloads on my old tablet really does not do them justice, so I opened them on my desktop monitor to appreciate them. I like all of them, but find the sky in the second image particularly appealing.

Farmington Bay is one of my favorite places to "shoot" birds, but I have to admit I've never been there, or any place else for fun, at that hour! You are an inspiration!

I am happy you liked this set, John. The reason I like to get to an area early is to capture the changing light as the sun rises.

Mike, DDLs are a must. It is the only way to see what is hiding in plain sight. Another excellent set and did you miss the bike riders?
