Nice shots Tom. What kind of lighting were you shooting in? I would love to shoot with my 85mm f/1.8. Have only been to one school so far and not sure if the others have the same access. They had tape on the floor 15 ft from the court and you couldn't go beyond that to shoot. Not really a good distance if you don't want to have to crop to fill the frame. please post more when you can. Thanks

Early Happy New Year Jules,

Thanks, Yep I am out wobbling around. Our Local Coach's are so good to me. Giving me access to limited gym
attendance, talking to the Referee's to give me sideline positioning even sitting on my walker near base line.

Thrilled I can get out to enjoy the hobby, plus processing piddling with them gives me something to do.

Hope all is well with You.

Early Happy New Year Tom,

Thanks for the nice comments. Lightning is the Tungsten Lamps in our local High School Gym.

I was shooting vertical with the Camera, so no much cropping. My mobility has declined so waddle
out to the games with My walker. Coach's & Officials are very good to me. They permit me to sit in
My walker on the edge or the baseline or if seating stands are out. I often sit on the lower end row
near the baseline.

Thrilled I can still waddle out to enjoy the game, and My camera.

Thanks for the comments.

Bless you Tom. So happy you can still shoot with whatever your problems are! With the Covid thing going on and the long layoff from actual games I thought about what I Would do if I Were not able to shoot anymore. Not a happy thought at all. I will accept whatever GOD has for me but I am not looking forward to it. Hang in there and post some shots. Thanks

Hi Tom,

Hope Your day is going good.

Yes the Covid has put a damper on our local sports. At one time no parents allowed at games.
Now two parents per Child that is on the team. On boys basketball team We have a grandson playing so our daughter, and son in love can attend.

Both Boys, Ladies Coach's, and Our High School Principal have blessed me by putting me on the Coach's list.
Thus I can attend all games, and My wife has access as a Coach's spouse thus She can watch our grandson's game.

A few weeks ago We drove to Orlando for our Local High School's first ever Semi-Final Regional Football game. Our kids lost in the last 20 seconds with a 28-21 loss.

We spend the night in a Hotel, I did not want to leave my camera & lens in the car trunk...When I lifted the camera bag my camera & 70-200mm lens fell out. (Stupid me had forgotten to zip bag.)

Send lens to Nikon on December 9th., thus the shooting with the 85mm f1.8.

Beyond My belief Camera shop I use called me today, the lens has arrived repaired already...that is quick service over the Holidays. Repair cost $600 since a scratch on front element. (I used a local Camera shop the owner has contacts with Nikon thus the quick repair in my opinion.)

Thanks for Your comments, feedback.

A Happy & Blessed New Year to You, and Your Loved Ones.

Hi Tom, br br Hope Your day is going good. br br... (show quote)

Yes we don't have fans in the stands as of the start of winter sports. I know most A.D.s and a lot of the coaches. I also shoot for MaxPreps.com so that really helps get me on the sidelines and close to the courts. They have a tapeline (15 ft. from the court that you can't cross, they told me if I do cross and someone on the court get a positive Covid test I would be quarantined along with them and couldn't attend games. Bummer! I stay behind lines. Puts crimp in my using 85mm f/1.8 lens. Being 15 ft. behind lines took that away. So I shoot with my 80-200mm f/2.8. The schedule for basketball (Boys & Girls) and Wrestling for both are so screwed up cancelations, postponements, reschedules have screwed up everything. This next week I will have just 4 events Friday and 3 events Saturday to maybe go too. Might be able to make 2 Friday and 1 Saturday. I have dropped 1 camera and lens and one lens that needed to be sent to Nikon for repair. Cost way too much but had to do it. At the age of 69 and a half I try to be extra careful as my senses and reflexes are shot. Oh yea I did have another mishap. I will make this short. Was at a baseball game my families high school. I was in dugout and the coach and umps we're in the way as usual. I wanted to get good angle for runner at second coming into third base. I moved out of dugout to the left some but noticed parents seated outside of fence and I would block their line of site. So the good guy I am I went on down and went outside of the gate that was there. Good spot though, perfect height that I could rest camera and lens on. Well in between inning my team went out to warm up, left fielder and player off the bench to throw back and forth. I was standing there and thank GOD I looked up just in time to see a baseball almost to my face. My reflexes moved me to the left and pushed my right hand to right. The damn ball hit my 80-400mm lens about 3 inches down from the front and put a big indent in the lens. It wouldn't move after that, luckily it still shoots and is stuck at 400mm, I can live with tat for awhile. I don't have money to fix right now, so it sits. I did buy my 200-500mm f/5.6 to replace it for now. That was the end to my baseball season. Sorry your team lost, when we get to the playoffs the losses really hurt. Do you live i Florida. I am from Florida born and raised in Dunedin just West of Tampa and North of Clearwater. Left in 1976 because of job and never returned. I live in Overland Park Kansas just West of Kansas City Missouri. I love it here. Well enough of that, usually don't go on and on. Sorry. Post photos when you can and be safe this new year. Thanks
